As the Publisher & Editor of the D&D Daily e-newsletter, he and his team have
developed what’s considered to be the #1 news and information resource for the
The Daily, which now reaches over 2 million readers annually, was designed to
educate, inform and instill a sense of community for the LP industry and is now
reaching LP executives worldwide. Dedicated to helping combat the ORC epidemic,
the Daily has led the way in tracking and reporting on the publically reported
ORC cases throughout North America.
Gus, himself, is a second generation retail LP executive with 13 years of
experience in the retail industry. Over his career Gus has been involved in a
number of other successful business ventures that include:
• Introducing interactive training programs to the LP industry,
• Launching and helping to develop the industry's leading loss prevention
• Consulting with a number of leading Loss Prevention Solution Providers,
and since 2010,
• launching and developing the LP industry’s first and only daily digital
e-newsletter, The D&D Daily.
With an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts, Gus has dedicated his career to the
development, improvement and enhancement of the retail Loss Prevention industry.
Gordon Smith served the Loss Prevention industry for seventeen years before
coming to the Downing & Downing team as an Executive Search
Consultant. Gordon's career in Loss Prevention covers discount and
full-line department stores, membership warehouse and specialty retail
formats, and attaining positions from District, Regional, and Director
of Security Services.
Gordon holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in Criminal Justice from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, was a
former Certified Protection Professional (CPP), and he also proudly
served with the U.S. Army's Military Police.
