The truth about resumes- Nobody really reads them!
With the massive increase in the number of
executives responding to internet postings, some
companies have actually outsourced the resume review
process, some are using software packages to screen
and respond to resumes, and some are still using the
old fashion method of actually looking at them.
However, very few take more than 5 to 10 seconds
with each one and that glance has got to catch
them. So in that regard the devil can be in the
details. Resumes that are too in depth, too long
(more than two pages), too wordy, are going to in
actuality turn the reader off. The trick is logical
flow, specific bullet point responsibilities, clear
job title progression, and education. Too much self
description can be a bad thing. A resume, while
representing your career, also has to recognize the
executive's time they have to spend understanding it
and seeing your actual experience. Respect their
time and show them you're a professional.
Good Luck
